Lecture on "Zanzibar and the Germans: German interests and diplomacy from 1844-1965", by Dr. Heinz Schneppen, former German Ambassador to Tanzania.

In this lecture, Dr.Schneppen deals with the involvement and interests of German merchants, missionaries, and consuls during the sultan's rule in Zanzibar. In the second part, he presents new evidence on the relationship between East and West Germany and the island.
