German and International Research on Oman:
Conference - Bonn (Germany), 20 June 1998

Deutscher Text - More Oman Conferences

After the success of the first meeting "German Research on Oman" held in Bochum in 1996, a second meeting was organized in Bonn (Germany) in 1998. The aim of the conference was to present current research on Oman in various disciplines as well as the results of recently concluded research projects on Oman. The aim of the conference was also to exchange experiences and ideas about research on and in Oman in general, to enable new contacts across and beyond individual academic disciplines, to compare notes on technical issues associated with research in Oman. The conference was sponsored by the German-Omani Association, the Oman Studies Centre, Detecon and Beta Publishing, Bonn. A special word of thanks is due to DETECON for providing its conference facilities in Bonn-Ramersdorf for the 1998 conference.

The conference was a one-day conference. Participants paid themselves for travel and accommodation. Each lecture was limited to 30 minutes including discussion. Conference languages were English and German. English summaries were distributed for lectures given in German. The conference papers will be published in 1999.
