The monthly statistical bulletin published by the National Economy Ministry showed that the Sultanate?s total production of crude oil and condensates stood at 119.25 million barrels by the end of May 2009, against 112.28 million barrels during the same period of 2008, constituting a 6.2 per cent, rise. The average daily production stood at 789,800 barrels by the end of May 2009 against 738,700 barrels during the same period of 2008, constituting a 6.9 per cent rise. The bulletin showed that the average price of Oman oil barrel fell by 50.2 per cent during the first five months of 2009 to $ 44.84 per barrel, against $ 90.03 per barrel during the same period of 2008. China topped the countries importing Omani Oil as it imported 31.50 million barrels during the first five months of 2009, against 45.56 million barrels during the same period of 2008, constituting a 30.9 per cent decline. Thailand came second, as it imported 14.24 million barrels by the end of May 2009, against 11.90 million barrels constituting a 19.6 per cent rise. Korea came third as it imported 11.10 million barrels, against 6.57 million barrels during the same period of 2008, constituting a 68.8 per cent rise. The Sultanate?s production of natural gas rose by 0.8 per cent to 443.465 million Cubic Feet (MCF) during the first five months of 2009, against 439.811 (MCF) during the same period of 2008. Gas consumption rose by 0.8 per cent to 442.487 MCF by the end of May 2009 against 438.812 MCF during the same period of 2008.
