Dolphin Energy Ltd said it will begin pumping natural
gas to Oman later this year as part of a regional
project under which it also supplies gas to the United
Arab Emirates.

Oman will begin receiving natural gas from Ras Laffan
off the coast of Qatar “from the third quarter of
2008,” the company said in a statement released on the
sidelines of a ceremony formally launching the
4.8-billion-dollar project.

The company began pumping gas last July to the UAE via
a submarine pipeline as part of the project, which has
been operational since last year, with gas produced
and processed at Qatar’s North Field and then
transported to the UAE.

France’s Total and Occidental Petroleum of the United
States each hold a 24.5 percent stake in Dolphin, with
the remaining 51 percent held by the Abu Dhabi-owned
Mubadala Development Co. Qatar has the world’s
third-largest gas reserves. In February Dolphin said
it had achieved its daily target of pumping two
billion cubic feet of natural gas from Qatar to the UAE.
