you don't know me, but I saw your posting during a bored 5 minutes searching 
for stuff on Oman!
I also lived on MAM camp as a kid, Im 28 now,  left Oman in 1988. Dad was in 
the Navy, we lived between the Jebel Mess and the HQ Mess, and right 
opposite the Kunjar Mess,I just loved it out there. Like you, I could not 
get used to life in the UK, Im doing everything I can to get abroad to live.
Its all coming back now, Sabco centre, Muttrah Cold Stores,  excellent.
