There was a question a few days ago about Higher Education
Colleges in Oman.

I am assuming that we differentiate between Vocational
Training, Further Education and Higher Education.

If so, then there are 4 or 5 HE colleges Oman. Most have
established strong affiliations to overseas universities
(UK, USA, Australia etc) and seem to offer:

A Foundation year, when English language skills are
improved, along with learning and study skills (including
computing).

Thereafter the offerrings vary, but the genral pattern is
that the student will spend one two or three years in the
College in Oman (earning a recognisable qualification) and
then one or two years in the affiliated overseas university
to earn a degree from the overseas university.

This system seems to be working quite well. Attendance at
an overseas university is very costly, so doing time in Oman
is very ccost effective. The downside for the student is
that the whole process (from finishing secondary school to
gaining a degree) takes a bit longer than going directly to
the overseas university from secondary school.

The Colleges that I know of are:

The College of Admin Science in Darsait - strong links to
Bolton in UK, but links also to other UK, USA and Australian
Universities.

The Caledonia College in Seeb/Al Hail, linked to a
consortium of Scottish Institutes, and specialising in
Engineering.

A Management College in Al Khuwair

ditto in the Central Business District, with a strong
American flavour.

A management/business college up in Sohar.

There is a strong move being made to establish such a
coolege in Salalah.

Hope this helps.

Ask me if you need more info, and I'll see what I can do.

Toodle pip!!
